I found the case very time consuming and difficult to pack. After much head-scratching, I had to take the rear derailleur off as I simply couldn't work out how to pack the bike with the rear derailleur installed, and this actually made things quite a bit simpler. Given this is basically a soft-case, I covered a significant portion of the bike with bubble-wrap, and put some clothes around the handlebars to pack things out and provide some additional padding. I did 4no. flights in total with the bag, and the bike did not seem to incur any damage, barring a left brake-lever hood that had been pushed out of position, which was an easy fix to push back into position. From what I could tell, the rest of the bike was fine, and I had no problems with indexing of gears etc. once the rear derailleur was re-installed. If I was using this bag again, I would pack it out even more thoroughly with clothes, just to add even more protection (especially around the handlebars and front-end), however for a soft-case, I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was. Walking/travelling with the bag was also fairly easy, and the big shoulder strap came in really handy for lashing the bag during transit in busses. The fact that I could pack the bike away without having to drop the seatpost or adjust the handlebars was a major advantage, however if I had the choice, I'd probably go for the security of a more heavy-duty hard case in future, despite the potential extra weight. I had no problems at all with Melbourne Bike Bag Rentals, and found Lachie friendly and easy to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to hire a case from them again if needed.

I just used MBBR for the second time. The bag was in very good condition with all of the required pads that come with the bag. The deposit was returned promptly without the need for follow up. For a person that needs a bike bag once a year renting through MBBR is much better than buying

High quality bike bag at a very reasonable rental cost. For the occasional bike bag user, this is the way to go. Lachie was great to deal with, particularly around my pick-up arrangements. Highly recommended.
